ServiceXS started as a small company in May 2002 with two employees. A close collaboration with the Leiden Genome Technology Center (LGTC), an internal facility of Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), was established in order to get access to state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. This collaboration enabled ServiceXS to offer innovative genomic services to the Life Sciences market.
ServiceXS started providing services such as the production of home spotted microarrays, gene expression projects (home spotted, Agilent, Affymetrix), conventional sequencing, taqman qPCR (Applied Biosystems), cloning, and also training and consultancy. The quote “ServiceXS, your outsourcing partner” appeared to be very successful as we rapidly grew and added new services in the field of Genotyping, Gene expression (whole genome and focussed), Proteomics and Next Generation Sequencing. This in close collaboration with major suppliers (Fluidigm, Idaho, Illumina).
The company has always been innovative: we were the first Agilent service provider in Europe, the first service provider to offer Solexa services (now the Illumina Next Generation Sequencing) in Europe, and the first Fluidigm service provider world wide. The latest example is the addition of Helicos sequencing to our portfolio.
At the moment ServiceXS offers the broadest portfolio of challenging and innovative services and is a major service provider not only to academic research centers, but also to biotech and agrotech companies all over the world.
